Temperature Definitions and Differences
Continuous Operating Temperature = UL Temperature Rating for Ties Once Applied
Most standard 6/6 nylon ties and our Frosty Ties have a continuous operation temperature range of -40°F to +185° F. Application Temperature = UL Temperature Rating at the Time of Tie Application Most standard 6/6 nylon ties have a cold application temperature range of +32°F (0°C). Our Frosty Ties have a cold application temperature range of -4°F (-20°C). This is a 36°F difference in cold application temperature rating.
All cable ties have a measured moisture content to allow ties to be flexible. During cold weather periods, the moisture in ties can freeze, making the ties brittle and susceptible to breakage. Keeping ties in a heated area or allowing ties to warm up prior to application will keep the ties flexible thus providing the desired performance.
